Prof. Alberto Firrincieli

Prof. Alberto Firrincieli is an Italian piano and harpsichord player, composer and music scholar. The founder of the International Keyboard Academy and the artistic director of Bangkok International Piano Festival, and of the Italian Thai Youth Orchestra. He created the innovative piano method Think-in-Music, and wrote more than 10 music education books. He was awarded the ‘Cavaliere della Stella d’Italia’ honorary award by the President of Italy in recognition of his achievements in music education and the cultivation of young talents. Currently Assistant Professor at Assumption University of Thailand, Department of Music Entrepreneurship.

Content

• Music as a form of communication, its structures and rules

• How NOT to practice: dissociation between sound and its meaning

• Tension-resolution in music (or Dominant-Tonic relationship), and how to manage it

• What is “tempo” and how to use metronome during our practice in the proper way

• Improvisation as creative process and why it is essential in our regular practice

• How to prevent technical faults, memory leaps and other music mistakes

• How to practice with awareness and prepare examinations and competitions

• How to solve stage fright in live performances, examinations or auditions

• How to choose properly a music edition and about correctness of simplified editions

• Differences among baroque, classic and romantic styles

• What is music interpretation, and how great pianists play and practice piano

• Short overview of music teaching methodologies in the 20th century

• Practical demonstration: How to teach music “thinking in music”, and starting from the structure of music

 

Conduct in English with Cantonese translation
